Peter Carlisle stands as a transformative figure in the realm of sports representation, particularly within the Olympic and action sports arenas. As the Managing Director of Olympics & Action Sports at Octagon, Carlisle has been at the forefront of athlete advocacy, branding, and mental health awareness for over two decades.

A graduate of Bates College and the University of Maine School of Law, Carlisle began his career in law before transitioning into sports management. In 1998, he founded Carlisle Sports Management, focusing on representing athletes in emerging sports like snowboarding and skateboarding. His early success with snowboarder Ross Powers, who won a bronze medal at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, propelled Carlisle into the spotlight and laid the foundation for his future endeavors.

Recognizing the untapped potential of action sports athletes, Carlisle specialized in marketing and representation strategies that highlighted their unique appeal. His innovative approach caught the attention of Octagon, leading to the acquisition of his firm in 2001. Since then, Carlisle has expanded Octagon's Olympics & Action Sports division, representing a roster of elite athletes including Michael Phelps, Simone Biles, and Aly Raisman.

Beyond contract negotiations and endorsements, Carlisle has been a vocal advocate for athlete mental health. He served as an executive producer for HBO's Emmy-nominated documentary "The Weight of Gold," which sheds light on the psychological challenges faced by Olympians.

Carlisle's influence extends to media and public discourse, where he frequently discusses the evolving landscape of sports marketing and the importance of athlete empowerment. His commitment to his clients' well-being and success has not only redefined the role of a sports agent but also contributed to a more holistic understanding of athlete representation in the modern era.
