In 1992, Schwartz transitioned into sports management at IMG, representing tennis legends like Pete Sampras and Martina Hingis.

In 2002, Schwartz founded Excel Sports Management, initially focusing on basketball. His early clients included Jason Kidd, Paul Pierce, and Lamar Odom.
