Pat Brisson is a Canadian NHL agent and co-head of CAA Hockey, widely regarded as one of the most powerful figures in professional hockey. Since becoming an agent in 1993, he has represented superstars like Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, and John Tavares, negotiating over $1.4 billion in active contracts. Brisson is known for his strategic vision, early talent identification, and holistic approach to player development.

As co-head of CAA Hockey, Brisson has negotiated over $1.4 billion in active contracts, representing some of the league’s most iconic talents.
Born on January 22, 1965, in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec, Brisson played junior hockey in the QMJHL and professionally in Europe before transitioning into player representation in 1993. His first client was longtime friend and Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille. Since then, Brisson has built a client list that includes Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, John Tavares, Jack Hughes, and Elias Pettersson
Brisson is known for his early identification of elite talent. In 2021, he represented 10 of the 31 first-round NHL Draft picks—more than 40 times the average share among agents. His approach involves working with players and their families years before draft eligibility, focusing on skill development, mental preparation, and long-term career planning.
Among his most notable deals is Sidney Crosby’s 12-year, $104.4 million contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, signed in 2012, which remains one of the largest in NHL history. In 2023, Brisson negotiated a $100 million contract for Nathan MacKinnon, further cementing his status as the league’s premier agent.
Brisson’s influence extends beyond contract negotiations. He has helped shape the modern player-agent relationship by emphasizing mentorship, brand development, and a holistic support system. His leadership at CAA Hockey has set a new standard for athlete representation in the NHL.
